cola and cameras

There was an item on BBC Radio 4 this morning,
which was all about how to create an explosive
fountain of cola by adding a Mento sweet to it.
It's said to be a prank used by schoolkids to
surprise their friends, taking photos of them
with their camera phones the moment it explodes.

Well here is a link to some video footage of a BBC
reporter trying this out with some kids.

A word of caution ... you mustn't drink cola while
eating a Mento sweet.

This video will probably be online for the next 5-6
days only, and you may need to download Real Player
to be able to see it. As you may know, a version of
Real Player can be downloaded free of charge via the
bbc.co.uk website.

For anyone thinking about buying a new digital camera,
I can recommend two camera review sites to you...

http://www.dpreview.com and
http://www.epinions.com/elec-Photo

As regards the dpreview site, if you click on the
“in depth review” for certain cameras, you will see
an 11 page review with specifications, how it operates,
and comparisons with other cameras of its type.

Howard Creech writes very good reviews of cameras on
the eopinions site.

I spent ages looking at these sites before going
online to buy my Canon Digital Rebel DSLR 350,
comparing its performance with other cameras of the
same quality. Below is another Cromer photo, taken at
sunset on the beach. I managed to include a father
and son who were taking photos at the same time.

Cromer is the crab place, right?

Wonderful photos, Justin. I wish I could take photos like these.

Your daughter is very lucky to have your support. And yes, life can be tricky. Ruth and I get grief when we are out - mostly annoying but sometimes scary.

You are as skinny as me. I am 168 cm (5'6"?) and 8.5 stone. I guess that's why we have so many problems with our undies!!

Another couple of equally good camera reviews sites are Digital Camera resource page which has a list of links to similar spec'd cameras at the end of its reviews, and Steve's Digicams While the conclusions of the latter are quite good, the former has more personal opinon overall. Keep the enjoyable photos coming Justin, I hope you'll post them all in a set at Flickr in due course. ;)

you know Justin THAT COLA STUFF is dangerous when mixed with anything.
It reminded me of how you can make a bomb by using baking soda and vinegar put the two together in a bottle screw the cap on tight shake it and run like hell.
once more you have got the mood with the camera very good shots.

Can I have your permision to paint that scene of the beach and two people on it and if its any good you can have it?

Le Chat: Yes, Cromer is the crab place ... we shared one (well, Mrs C ate most of it, as she'd ordered it). We had grilled plaice another day ... gorgeous fresh flavour.
As regards women going out together, just holding hands can be problematic, as you'll know.

Edt: thanks for the other review sites... I'll have a look at them soon.

Steve: you're most welcome to have a go at painting the beach photo. I'd like to see a photo of the finished painting on your website in due course. If your paintings/prints start selling like Jack Vettriano's, I'll be knocking on your door for some royalties!

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks about my photos.

Great shot, Justin. Beautiful combination of colour and detail. BTW I love the Steve's Digicam site. It's really comprehensive.
